2013 Summary Of Art

Much improvement since my last one, which can be found here: 

So in order, let's reflect!

1. Late Dec./Early January, the dreadful No Tablet times. No reference is obviously not good for my health... look at that back and that neck!

2. Still not understanding that SKELETAL tracing means SKELETON. Not the whole damn horse. Background still sucks horribly, but it's a bit better than my old stuff.

3. WHOA BACKGROUND IMPROVEMENT. That's the first time I decided to do a different background and coloured in lines... also did actual skeletal tracing! (and it looks poopy..)

4. Decided on a no reference horse... didn't turn out HORRIBLY... but still pretty bad. That's pretty much the only art I did that month.

5. Training image! Animation! "I attempted arena sand" background! Wow! Much try! Very effort! (not...)

6. Holy jesus whoa. Freehand????? what???? SHADING???? Background??? One of my best pieces of the year... and it gave me a little confidence boost :'D

7. What the heck did I do to this poor horse? About 9 episodes of Supernatural a night really got to me... this was the time I'd like to call "I became one with owls and bats"

8. More freehand! Looks like an actual horse, and the BG isn't bad either. Tried a different lining style, and I really hated it :')

9. HUMAN????? WHAT?????? I drew a person :'D Didn't look too much like the person I wanted to draw and he's got like...pool noodle arms, but hey! Person!

10. Skeletal tracing FTW! Having to do less and less skeletal stuff, it's getting easier at this point. BG isn't bad either, and those mountains in the background? That was the best part. Story too :'D

11. Best piece of the month for sure :3 Tried shading and a new background, coloured in lines and stuff...smoother animation. I actually quite like this one!

12. Saved the best for last. It's a hell of a lot easier to draw horses with missing hooves/legs (as in hidden... not amputated...) and it's also easier to do BG's. Textures make me happy. Very happy. Experimenting with different styles, lining techniques, looking at other's art, and lots of random sketches has helped a lot.

I'm still not where I want to be, but I'll hopefully get there someday xD
